Chossudovsky on Iran: US winks, Israel bites:

“RussiaToday | August 05, 2010

A group of former intelligence and military officials is demanding immediate action from Barack Obama – to prevent a war in the Middle East. They claim Israel’s counting on Washington to offer unconditional support for an attack on Iran, as early as this month. It comes just days after U.S. top brass refused to rule out a strike on the Islamic state. The group – which includes former CIA agents – says a war in Iran will ignite a regional conflict, which could lead to the annihilation of Israel. Tehran has repeatedly refused diplomatic relations with Tel-Aviv, as it maintains the Jewish state has no right to exist. Michel Chossudovsky from the Canadian Centre for Research on Globalisation, thinks Israel won’t strike until Washington tells it to.

BDS Boycott Divestment and Sanctions Part 5 of 6:

“aicvideo | August 05, 2010

The BDS movement: boycott, divestment and sanctions used to put pressure on Israel to respect the rights of the Palestinian people and to end the occupation, is rapidly growing around the world. This video examines the economic aspects of BDS. How did BDS evolve? Can it be an effective tool against Israel? Could it hurt innocent people as well? Why BDS is better or worse than other forms of resistance? This video is meant as a tool for activists, consumers, academics and businesspeople who are considering how to take a moral course of action in relation to Israel’s violations of international law, and of human and collective rights of the Palestinians.
Shir Hever, economist with the AIC explains the mechanisms and background of the boycott campaign that affects products produced in Israel. Part 5 of 6 For more information http://alternativenews.org/

“A new Israeli airstrike on the southern Gaza Strip has claimed the life of one Palestinian while inflicting injury on three others.

The wounded were placed under medical care.

Israeli attacks on central Gaza on Friday killed a Hamas commander and wounded 15 other people, including a young girl and an elderly man.

The Israeli forces carry out regular bloody forays into Gaza in what they call retaliation for alleged rockets flying from the coastal sliver.

War with Iran: Memorandum for President Obama
by Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity (VIPS)
Source: Dissident Voice

We write to alert you to the likelihood that Israel will attack Iran as early as this month. This would likely lead to a wider war. Israel’s leaders would calculate that once the battle is joined, it will be politically untenable for you to give anything less than unstinting support to Israel, no matter how the war started, and that U.S. troops and weaponry would flow freely. Wider war could eventually result in destruction of the state of Israel.

This can be stopped, but only if you move quickly to pre-empt an Israeli attack by publicly condemning such a move before it happens.

We believe that comments by senior American officials, you included, reflect misplaced trust in Israeli Prime Minister [Benjamin] Netanyahu. (read more)

“RTAmerica | August 04, 2010

The group Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity has sent a memo to US President Obama warning him that Israel may attack Iran as early as this month, possibly leading to a wider war. This can be stopped, but only if Obama acts pre-empt an Israeli attack by publicly condemning it before it happens.
